his is a collection of prayers that I have written and prayed, over several years. On the urging of several friends, I’ve put them together in book form. The writer of Hebrews tells us the power of the Word and when we pray the Word we can see the truth in what he says.
Heb. 4:12: For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (NKJ)
The book contains prayers for the church, our children, our land and many of the situations we face in our lives. The book started out as a small booklet and grew, as I gathered together all my scraps of paper and the notes in my Bible! Over the years I have seen the effectiveness of praying the Word and as I have spoken it out in prayer, my faith has grown. Paul tells us in Rom. 10:17 that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. So, there is a twofold purpose in praying the Word; it not only accomplishes its purpose (Is. 55:11) in the situation into which it is prayed, but it builds our faith.
