ARM Prayer Directives

Anglicans for Renewal
by Jane Jones
Spring 2001

As prayer groups begin to form in your communities, we suggest the following as guidelines for intercession.

Promised about Prayer in Scripture

Matthew 18:19  "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven" (NKJV).

1 John 5:14-15  "Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him" (NKJV).

Let us Pray for:

  • favour with pastors and churches for prayer initiative
  • for contacts and connections for prayer groups
  • awareness of the importance of prayer will rise
  • for teaching of effective prayer (seminars, conferences)
  • for isolationism to cease and a country (world) wide vision
  • open doors for Leadership Training Institutes
  • hope to be restored
  • the profile of prayer to be raised in the church
  • complacency and slumber to be lifted off the church
  • a willingness to pour out the old wine to prepare for the new (old wineskins emptied out, soaked in water then rubbed with oil)
  • that the Lord would raise up Simeons and Annas in the church, faithful and patient in prayer and fastings
  • for the truth of God's word to prevail in the church
  • that the fear of man will not bind those who need to stand up for righteousness
  • recognition that our battle is not against flesh and blood
  • for priests and parishes in renewal (protection, wisdom, etc)

    Objectives

  • raise up prayer groups around the country, praying with a common purpose for renewal and revival in the church
  • connecting and networking with other prayer networks within Canada
  • raise the level of awareness re: prayer and fasting
  • provide teaching and guidelines for prayer
  • establish team agreement and holding on in prayer until the answer is manifest

    Needs

  • to identify the strongholds of the enemy, what has defiled the church? (The past hinders the future)
  • identify where the walls are broken and godly authority needs to be re-established
  • to know where the open doors to the enemy are
  • to recognize old patterns that keep being repeated
  • to establish corporate repentance
  • identification with sins of those gone before us

Neh. 1:6  "Please let Your ear be attentive and Your eyes open, that You may hear the prayer of your servant which I pray before You now, day and night, for the children of Israel your servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel which we have sinned against You. Both my father's house and I have sinned" (NKJV).

  • to know and understand the timing of the Lord

1 Chr. 12:32  "of the children of Issachar who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do" (NKJV).

  • for the truth of the word to be spoken and heeded in the church

  • obedience to the word

  • idols to be torn down

Please read carefully Leviticus 26: 1-10 and note the Promises for Obedience

Finally, let us pray for the ministry of reconciliation, within the church, to bear much fruit.

2 Cor. 5:18  "Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation."
